Inductive charging in accordance with international safety standards

With the UL and CSA certification of its CW1000 inductive charging system, Wiferion – a PULS brand meets the high safety and quality requirements of Underwriters Laboratories (UL) in the USA and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) for Canada. This means that the compact inductive energy solution is now officially approved for use in the USA and Canada, offering manufacturers of mobile robots (AMR) and autonomous guided vehicles (AGV) a tested and standard-compliant charging option for the North American market.

CW1000 inductive chargers receives UL-1564 approval: Wiferion drives forward the international establishment of inductive charging

The global market for mobile robotics is growing rapidly. With the increasing automation of production and logistics processes, the demand for efficient, safe and maintenance-free energy systems is also rising. The testing was carried out in accordance with UL 1564 (Standard for Safety for Industrial Battery Chargers) and UL62368. Canadian equivalent standard CSA C22.2 was also granted. All tests covered electrical safety, thermal stress, EMC, fault protection, material resistance and IP protection requirements. The CW1000 thus meets all safety-related requirements for use in the USA and Canada. Manufacturers of AMR and AGV systems can integrate the unit without additional regional approvals.

The certification confirms the industrial suitability of the CW1000 devices under real load conditions. This includes tests for overcurrent protection, fault current detection, temperature limits and robust insulation systems.

Compact and efficient: the technology of the CW1000

The CW1000 MOCHA combines a mobile coil and power electronics in a single module. This integration reduces installation space and component complexity. The system delivers 1250 W of continuous power. Wireless energy transfer is contactless and prevents abrasion, contact burn-off and mechanical failures. Users benefit from high efficiency and short charging times. The protection classes are IP65 / IP67 in the stationary electronics pad (SEPA) and IP54 in the mobile charger (MOCHA) on the vehicle side.

“With the very demanding UL1564 certification, we are creating the base for our customers to use the CW1000 worldwide – without additional approval procedures for the North American market – and setting ourselves apart from the competition,” says Matthieu Ebert, Director of Product & Technology at PULS.

The UL and CSA certification underlines the high quality standards and international orientation and solutions of Wiferion – a PULS brand. It confirms the technical maturity and safety of the systems and is an important step towards establishing Wiferion’s inductive charging technology as a global standard in the field of mobile robotics.
