All stock at a glance – with its autonomous scanning robots, Dexory creates a digital twin of the warehouse in real time. Major players such as DB Schenker and Maersk rely on the London-based start-up’s technology. A component from Germany is also contributing to its success. All robots are equipped with Wiferion’s wireless charging technology as standard.

Autonomous robots for precise warehouse inventory

The London-based start-up Dexory is a fast-growing AI and robotics company that uses autonomous mobile robots to collect data from warehouses in real time. The company was founded in 2015 by the three founders Andrei, Oana and Adrian and is considered one of the most promising projects in logistics. Schenker Ventures, the investment arm of DB Schenker, and Maersk Growth, among others, have participated in Dexory’s financing rounds. Dexory is already working with major industry leaders such as Menzies Aviation, Maersk, Denso, Huboo and others to improve warehouse operations through automation, data intelligence and digital twin technology.

In-process charging: The new basis for energy efficiency

Dexory’s solution combines hardware and software to provide an immediate overview of stock levels and processes at the touch of a button. The autonomous warehouse scanner robots use high-quality cameras and sensors to scan the warehouse in 3D and capture labels and barcodes on pallets and products. The collected data is fed into a digital platform to create accurate models of the warehouse shelves and items and provide insights into the flow of goods. An outstanding feature of the robots is their extendable tower, which can reach up to 12 meters high and enables the scanning of warehouses of any shape and size. This creates a perfect, always up-to-date digital twin of the warehouse.
The extracted analyses eliminate operational bottlenecks, increase efficiency (enabling faster storage and picking) and provide meaningful insights into the operation of the warehouse (e.g. real-time utilization fluctuations, route planning) – all of which previously had to be done manually. AI gives companies the information they need for more accurate forecasting and planning of their entire inventory, as well as smarter workforce management.

To ensure that customers always receive up-to-date data, the scanning robots must be in regular use. The automated power supply is crucial for this. To ensure this, Dexory installs the inductive fast charging system from Wiferion in all robots. Andrei Danescu, CEO of Dexory, emphasizes the importance of a reliable charging system:

“Conventional technologies with sliding contacts did not convince us, mainly because of the wear of the charging contacts and the need to position the AMRs precisely to ensure a safe charging process. We chose Wiferion because the etaLINK system is robust, powerful and reliable.”

Maintenance-free and simple implementation

The etaLINK 3000 rapid battery charging system is integrated into the vehicles and enables the AMRs to be charged quickly during operation. “We position the charging points at locations that are frequently frequented by the AMRs,” explains Andrei Danescu. This eliminates charging times and trips to stationary charging stations, which increases the productivity of the AMRs by up to 32 percent. At a charging point, the power transmission starts automatically and reaches the full power of 3 kW after one second. Even if a vehicle is positioned imprecisely at a charging point, the charging process starts reliably. The charging points can be approached omnidirectionally and are therefore flexible.

Dexory does not have to worry about maintaining the power supply. The etaLINK system is encapsulated (IP67), has no mechanical parts and is therefore completely maintenance-free. Andrei Danescu sees a further advantage in the simple integration of the system into the AMR:

“Compared to sliding contacts, the etaLINK system is compact, which creates more space in the vehicle for other components.”

In addition, the chargers can be installed without major conversion work on the building structure. “That’s a big advantage, because many companies only rent the warehouses.”

Wireless charging technology offers Dexory and its customers numerous advantages that make a decisive contribution to increasing the efficiency and reliability of autonomous mobile robots. By integrating the robust and powerful etaLINK system into the scanning robots, Dexory guarantees constant operational readiness and continuous data acquisition. This provides users with all the relevant analyses they need to optimize their processes and increase productivity.
